Tipping in Venezuela is somewhat common, in fact the whole money situation in Venezuela can be tricky. Besides the currency complications it is still a beautiful place to visit. Venezuela is home of some amazing landscapes and the worlds highest waterfall. Once you change your money use our tipping guide below to get the best value out of your travels and so you don’t over tip in Venezuela!
Taxis: Tipping a taxi driver isn’t expected but they normally wont turn them down. We use the round up model if the drive was pleasant.
Hotels: If the bell boy was to handle your baggage then you should give him the equivalent of $1 a bag.
Restaurants: Most places will included a 5-10% service charge on the bill. If this is not included you are expected to tip the same amount.
Bars: You might see a service charge on your bill depending on the bar. If not then a 5% tip is common practice.
Other: If you are doing a tour then the guide and driver will expect a tip. Normally the tour guides will mention this as well. We think a 5-10% tip of the total cost is a good amount.
