Chile is home of great wine and beautiful landscapes. It is becoming a popular destination for adventure and vacations. Because of this tipping is becoming more and more common. Use our guide below to figure out when you should tip and when you shouldn’t on your travels through Chile!
Taxis: Tipping a taxi driver isn’t expected unless they were to help you with your bags. If that is the case then a few coins or rounding up is appropriate.
Hotels: If the bell boy was to handle your baggage then you should give him about 500 pesos a bag. At a high end hotel the maid will expect a 1000 pesos a night as well.
Restaurants: If service isn’t on the bill then you should tip 10% of the total. Most of the time it is included though in the 10-12% range.
Bars: Service will likely be included in the bill. If its not then 10% of the total is a standard tip.
Other: When going to the supermarket you should tip the boy bagging your groceries. Also any tour you should tip 5-10% of the total.
