Tipping in Fiji isn’t common for a country that is visited often by tourists. Fiji is a beautiful country but can be very expensive. It offer amazing landscapes and great outdoor adventure and really is a place that everyone should visit. Even though Fiji can be an expensive place, tipping isn’t very common for its culture. Our guide will let you know when you should tip and when you should keep the change.
Taxis: Never, but make sure you negotiate the total fare or the driver puts on his meter when getting into a taxi.
Hotels: Never, you may see a tipping box or a “Christmas Box” in a resort though. Anything put in this box will be share among all the staff.
Restaurants: Never, again you may see a shared box in some restaurants and that will be shared among all staff.
Bars: Never, again you may see a shared box in some bars and that will be shared among all staff.
Other: Tipping isn’t a standard in Fiji so don’t be expected to tip when you go out. However, don’t be shy to throw a few dollars in the “Christmas Box” if service was exceptional.
