Tipping in Libya isn’t very common nor expected. Libya is home of friendly and kind people and tourism is on the rise because of it, yet tipping culture remains the same. It is home of the Leptis Magna, one of the few unspoiled ruins left from the Roman Empire. If traveling to Libya you should be up to date on the culture and when you should tip. Use our tipping guide below to help you on your travels.
Taxis: Not required, service is included in the price.
Hotels: Not required. You may see a service charge on your hotel bill though.
Restaurants: Not required. You may see a service charge on your restaurant bill though.
Bars: Alcohol is prohibited in Libya, so don’t expect to be drinking on your travels.
Other: The only time you should tip is when doing a tour. The tour guide and driver won’t expect a tip, and may even refuse it, but a small tip is appreciated.
