Tipping In Slovenia isn’t very common, which is nice when you are trying to relax in such a beautiful country. Slovenia has a very diverse landscape with the Adriatic Sea at your feet and the Alps right behind you. There are numerous hiking trails to be explored and some great history to learn. Use our tipping guide below to figure out when you should tip while exploring Slovenia!
Taxis: Tipping a taxi driver is not expected, you can however round up to show appreciation.
Hotels: Tipping isn’t expected to any of the hotel staff.
Restaurants: A 10% service charge is usually included in the cost of the meal. If service was good you can round up the bill.
Bars: Tipping in bars isn’t common or expected.
Other: Tipping in Slovenia isn’t common so don’t feel the need to tip while you are traveling around. Relax and enjoy!
I can’t say for sure about the hotel part as I rarely stay in a hotel when vacationing in Slovenia) but I am pretty sure you got the whole thing wrong. There are no rules about tipping per se, but it is very common. It usually means just rounding the price up (i.e. rounding 3.80e to 4.00e and similar). If you feel like someone earned more, no one will stop you from giving some extra money. It is definitely not expected of you to tip, but those who receive it will definitely appreciate it. Anyway, welcome to Slovenia 🙂
Hi Janlaz,
Just saw this. I think I mentioned rounding up the cost in my guide. When I was there I always would round up for good service. This could of course mean going from 3.80e – 5e (etc), but its not like in certain countries where a tip is expected.
Thanks for the info though. Good to hear from others! I’ll update the guide a bit more Happy Tipping!
